Cancelling your trip
This applies to all trips, including tarpon trips.
- Up to 7 days before your trip: free cancellation. Cancel for free through your booking confirmation or our website. Nothing is charged.
- Within 7 days of your trip: The free cancellation option is no longer available. To cancel, text, leave a voicemail, or email me (contact below). The full trip price will be charged to the card you gave at booking.
- No-shows: If you don't arrive for your trip, the full trip price will be charged to the card on file. Letting me know ahead of time doesn't waive the charge once we are inside the 7-day window.
- Running late? Text me at 607-327-0221 or call 941-621-9996 right away. I'll wait up to 1 hour after your scheduled departure time. After 1 hour, the trip counts as a no-show and the full trip price will be charged.
Free cancellations must be made through your booking confirmation or our website. A text, voicemail, or email to me does not make a cancellation free. Within the 7-day window, please still contact me so I know you aren't coming; the full charge applies either way.
Refunds
You aren't charged anything at booking, so there is usually nothing to refund. The card on file is charged only for a late cancellation or a no-show. If you pay at the dock and there's a problem with your trip, contact me within 7 days and I'll review it with you.
Weather
Safety comes first. I watch the forecast closely in the days before your trip and will contact you if conditions look unsafe.
- If I cancel for weather, we'll rebook your trip for another date, or you won't be charged. Your choice.
- I don't fish in lightning, and I make the final call on whether it's safe to go. That includes wind, seas, storms, and other hazards.
- If I recommend not going and you choose to go anyway: if the boat has to return because of weather, you pay the full trip price.
- If I decide to go and then have to cut the trip short for weather: the charge is pro-rated by the hour. The hourly rate is your trip price divided by the trip's hours, and time fished is rounded up to the next full hour. If rounding up reaches the full length of the trip, you pay the full trip price.
- Example: a 4-hour trip at $625 is $156.25 per hour. If we have to head in after 1 hour 10 minutes, that rounds up to 2 hours, so you pay 2 × $156.25 = $312.50.
- If you decide not to go because the weather doesn't look great but I haven't cancelled and haven't recommended against going, the normal cancellation policy applies. Call me and we'll talk it over.
